LMDE5 works fine on a live USB if it helps I have spent some hours looking on the web for a solution to no avail. I upgraded to LM21.1 and the issue remains. This machine has worked perfectly on every version of LM since LM17.3 onwards and is still fine on LM20.3 When booting from a live USB, the second screen is not detected, but plugging it in or unplugging it makes no difference to the live USB session. ![]() It does not seem to finish booting until the second screen is unplugged. When I then unplug the second screen, the laptop continues to boot with the LM startup sound and the desktop appears. If I plug the second monitor in BEFORE booting, I see the round LM logo on both screens, then it drops to the flashing cursor/second screen disconnecting as above. If, AFTER booting LM21 I plug in a second monitor to the VGA port, the laptop screen goes black, the cursor flashes erratically and the second monitor keeps rapidly reconnecting and disconnecting but stays black.
